LEARN ABOUT THE POSITIONS OF PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES
ON ISSUES THAT RELATE TO CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING
Do you know yet who you’ll vote for in the presidential race? — and why? To make it easier for you, check out www.networklobby.org to find a “Presidential Candidate Chart,” which compares the positions of Senators Obama and McCain on a whole list of issues, all from a Catholic perspective. The issues covered are Healthcare, Hunger, Ecology, Protecting Life, Immigration & Refugees, Peace Building & Development, and Trade & Investment. Other issues covered are Taxation, Social Safety Net, Living Wage, and Federal Budget Priorities. The chart was produced by The Network Education Program, which “works for a more humane world and whose work is firmly rooted in Catholic Social Justice. NEP “engages people in envisioning and working for a more humane world, one of justice and care for the common good.”
For a more general action document with no reference to party, go to: www.votethecommongood.org, which presents the values we should be thinking about when we vote, all based on the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution — such as Establish Justice, Ensure Domestic Tranquility, Promote the General Welfare, Provide for the Common Defense, Secure the Blessings of Liberty.
