Volunteer to Participate in Project Homeless Connect on Monday, December 8th

Project Homeless Connect is a wonderful one-time opportunity for you to give part of a day to participate in a program that provides invaluable services to homeless families and individuals. The event scheduled for December 8th is the fourth one in the Twin Cities over the past couple of years. It’s a “one-stop shop model” for delivering services such as the following to people experiencing homelessness: eye care, tooth care, medical care, legal counsel, transportation assistance, food, clothing, housing providers, employment specialists, benefits specialists, and on and on. Instead of spending weeks and sometimes months trying to get from service to service in the Cities, frequently without transportation, homeless participants in this event receive these services all in one place all in one day. It’s an amazing event that displays a huge amount of community generosity. And it’s very rewarding to volunteers!

Last April nearly 1,300 volunteers served over 2,800 people experiencing homelessness by greeting them, screening them, and escorting them to appropriate service tables. Once again in December the event needs 1,300 volunteers to serve an even larger number of clients. You can volunteer to help at this event in one of two shifts: 9:00-2:00pm or 9:00-5:00pm. Sign up NOW and register for one of five training sessions from November 17th to December 6th!

To register go to the following site: www.homelessconnectminneapolis.org and click on the “please join us as a volunteer” box.
