Call to Action #24 — Volunteer for Project Homeless Connect on May 11th

homelessconnectProject Homeless Connect is a wonderful one-time opportunityfor you to give part of a day to participate in a program that provides invaluable services to homeless families and individuals. The event scheduled for May 11th is the fifth one in the Twin Cities over the past few years. It’s a “one-stop shop model” for delivering services such as the following to people experiencing homelessness: eye care, tooth care, medical care, legal counsel, transportation assistance, food, clothing, housing providers, employment specialists, benefits specialists, and on and on. Instead of spending weeks and sometimes months trying to get from service to service in the Cities, frequently without transportation, homeless participants in this event receive these services all in one place all in one day. It’s an amazing event that displays a huge amount of community generosity. And it’s very rewarding to volunteers! This May at least 1,500 volunteers will be needed to serve the expected 2,500 people experiencing homelessness by greeting them, screening them, and escorting them to appropriate service tables. You can volunteer to help at this event in one of two shifts: 9:00-2:00pm or 9:00-4:00pm.

Sign up NOW and register for one of five 90-minute training sessions
from April 29th to May 9th! To register go to the following site:

  1. Just checking in to see all the great things happening at CTK in social justice. Congratulations! i was especially interested in this project for the homeless and wondered how the day turned out. My inspiration for ministry to the homeless is Atlanta, GA’s Open Door Community. Have you heard about them? Classified as a Protestant Catholic Worker House. It’s great.
